Aaron McMullan
Songs From The Back Room (2005)
The Introductory Waffle

What this is, is nothing less (nor, sadly, more) than my 5th
net record. I think it’s just tiny enough for to qualify as an
EP, although it’s probably as long as some of those punk-style
records those skateboard kids are so very fond of.

Here’s the shock coming up, man; I really like this. I think
it’s easily the best one on here, certainly the best I’ve put
on since
Testaments In G back in the day. All of these were
pretty much written and recorded in a week, with a fair chunk
of them being the product of an especially productive Saturday.

The result is that they all share common threads and the like.
They all hang together much, much better than the songs on the
other EP’s, even though it’s still pretty varied. There's fast-
paced stuff like
The Ballad Of The Kirsten Dunst Tennis Ball,
and then there’s the introspective, melancholic stuff like

Bring Herself To Tell
.

What it is, is it’s about my recent break-up shindig, but not
exclusively. Some of these could’ve unhappily snuggled next to
the shit from
What Happened Was This, but then there’s loads
of other things going on. Lots of memories of youthful
recklessness, like what gets mentioned in
Goth Girls Turn Me
On
and Of Youth And Megaw.

Anyway, I like it, and hopefully you folks will too. Who knows
what demented nonsense you'll be thinking?

Let Me Know.

Just left click to listen online, or right-click for to save
them someplace.
